“The K is the ideal platform for us to connect with an international audience”
Nordmann News spoke with Jost E. Laumeyer, Nordmann’s Global Sales Director Plastics, about the latest market developments and his expectations for the K fair.
What expectations do you have as a K-2019 exhibitor, and why is it so worthwhile to visit?
The K trade fair is simply THE most important event in the plastics industry. Nordmann has been successful in this field for a long time now, but we are still looking to grow. The fair is an ideal platform for us to connect with a large and international audience as we work toward that aim. We have new things on offer that will be of interest to both existing and prospective customers, and visitors can come experience our slogan “Knowledge in action” firsthand.
What prospects and challenges do you see in today’s industry?
The issue of plastic, its use and not least its relationship to consumer behavioral patterns are
currently very much in the media spotlight – and rightly so! At Nordmann, we do our part to promote the sensible and sustainable use of plastic products in an effort to tackle global problems. We have several raw materials and products in our portfolio that allow for lightweight automotive parts to be constructed, for example, or that reduce the amount of materials used in food packaging. It’s important to remember that plastics are more than just raw materials; they are also recyclable materials!
How is Nordmann responding to the latest market developments, and where do you see opportunities for your business?
Nordmann’s brand values are “visible”, “international” and “partnership”. That’s what we live for, and why we focus our efforts on making our technical market expertise visible on an international level in the plastics sector. In our view, the most potential is in continuing to grow as a solutions provider that can see our business partners successfully established in the market and support the complex projects they undertake. That calls for trust and close partnerships; at Nordmann, we continuously invest in both.
What are Nordmann’s goals in the field of plastics?
Nordmann has a large network of customers and suppliers, in addition to a broad spectrum of products that we intend to distribute more extensively throughout the various regions we operate in. Bringing part of our flame retardant portfolio to the USA is a good example of this, and it was due to the technical expertise our team showed here in Europe that we convinced our Chinese partner Hangzhou JLS Flame Retardants Chemical to entrust us with the distribution of its products in the United States.
