Interview with Natalia Castro

Technical Sales Manager Plastics & Additives, Nordmann Italy S.r.l.

What made you choose Nordmann?

Natalia Castro: There were several reasons – but from the moment I got to know the company and the team, I just felt welcome! The integrity and team spirit among the staff is just so apparent, almost palpable. Each of us has passion for the job, combined with goals for life-long learning and constantly developing his/her professional know-how. In addition, I appreciate the fact that Nordmann is an international company that doesn’t just pay lip service to diversity: we really benefit from the exchange of diverse experiences. I’m happy to be part of a company that is strongly committed to its employees, as well as society and the environment.

Interview with Natalia Castro

What did you do before Nordmann, and what does your day-to-day work look like nowadays?

Natalia Castro: I am a chemical and materials engineer, and I worked in an R&D lab for polyurethane adhesives and the mechanical testing of polymers. These days, a typical workday starts with a good strong coffee and making a to-do list. I prepare myself for upcoming appointments, answer customer requests for quotations and coordinate with suppliers for technical documents that our customers need. Checking the availability of our products in various different warehouses and watching for price updates and/or product sample tests are also part of my job.

In addition, I check the progress of customer projects, integrate feedback and coordinate new orders. I also search for and contact new potential customers. Last but not least, I regularly attend meetings with suppliers and the rest of my team.

Is working from home very different?

Natalia Castro:  When I’m at home, I more or less do the same tasks – but I start the day with yoga! After that comes proposal writing, sample work and follow-ups. I also focus a little more on calling new prospects and attending webinars.

What are you most looking forward to at the upcoming K fair?

Natalia Castro: I think it will be a great opportunity to finally meet with customers and suppliers again face-to-face after two long years of social distancing. I’m eager to hear how they see current circumstances, as well as their views on future challenges – and, of course, I’m looking forward to the technical discussions about possible solutions.

I am also extremely interested in the developments surrounding the circular economy, which is, after all, a major focal point at the trade show this year.
