Nordmann’s European team ramps up activities in thermoplastics

Nico Vossers, who started at Nordmann 27 years ago, has been given European responsibility for thermoplastics since the beginning of the year. Nordmann News talked to him about the first ten months in his new responsibility – about opportunities and challenges.
Nico, why is Nordmann further expanding its sales organization in the thermoplastics sector in Europe?

The plastics industry plays a vital part in Nordmann since decades. The thermoplastics business is a major part of that, and this business has been a European business since many years. Nordmann enjoys several very long-standing partnerships – both with customers and suppliers – in this sector.

The organisation is growing, not only by installing the new position as Business Manager Europe, but more so, by increasing the sales force in Europe step-by-step.

Reason for doing that is growth we have been seeing in our business and the further growth we will be achieving with our suppliers in the thermoplastics markets.

Nico, what specific challenges have you faced in the first ten months of your new role as Business Manager Europe Thermoplastics, and how have you overcome them?

The most beautiful challenge is to use the knowledge we have in our international plastics sales team. It is great to see the synergies we can build our growth on and the strong effect it has on motivation and team spirit. We have a great foundation to build on.

Also, we have been grateful to install new products from existing and new partners in our international organisation. We are developing the market for newcomers in our portfolio, such as Polycarbonate, PMMA, Polyolefinelastomers, TPC, TPA and several sustainable product solutions based on recycling and bio-mass.

Nico, you were just at the Fakuma trade fair in Friedrichshafen, the meeting place for the plastics processing industry, together with your European team. What future trends and developments do you see in the thermoplastics sector, and how is Nordmann planning to respond to them?

Yes, we had a great show in Friedrichshafen, meeting many existing and new contacts. It has been the 19th Fakuma for me!

In the present economic environment with a lot of uncertainty about the future production base of plastic raw materials, we can ensure reliable supplies with our international partners making sure to be able to satisfy the plastic converters’ needs today and tomorrow.

Understanding local needs in European thermoplastics markets through our local sales organizations and customizing global polymer offerings to these local outlets is the way Nordmann plays and will play a central role for the European thermoplastics industry and remains an indispensable partner.
