Upcycled solutions for cosmetics

Nordmann partner Minasolve supplies high-quality, sustainable and upcycled raw materials for use in the cosmetics industry. This includes the effective and multifunctional solutions A-Leen® 5, A-Leen® Aroma 3 and E-Leen® Green A, which stand as alternatives to conventional preservatives and fragrances. Minasolve’s shelf-stable Hydra-Leen hydrolates also offer a range of natural and fresh scents for cosmetic formulations.

The upcycling trend

Upcycling or repurposing the by-products of production and production waste is a trend that is fast becoming an established part of everyday life and business. These practices harness the value of materials that have traditionally been considered unusable. Nordmann’s partner Minasolve embraces the trend of upcycling by developing high-quality and multifunctional green chemistry ingredients for the cosmetics industry from biological waste. The company specializes in creating natural alternatives to conventional preservatives.

A-Leen®

A-Leen® 5 is an effective moisturizing and skin-conditioning agent that can also serve as a solubilizer and solvent for extracting ingredients and promote the hydration of gelling agents such as xanthan gum. A-Leen® 5 is also a proven preservative booster and alternative to conventional preservatives that combat the growth of yeasts, molds and bacteria.

A-Leen® Aroma 3

A-Leen® Aroma 3 is a mild fragrance made of cassia essential oil, extracted and distilled with steam from the leaves and twigs of the Chinese cinnamon tree Cinnamomum cassia. The product gives body care formulations a warm, pleasant and spicy oriental note. In addition to being preservative-free and offering a broad spectrum of antimicrobial activity, A-Leen® Aroma 3 also demonstrates excellent solvent properties for preservatives and active ingredients in cosmetics.

E-Leen® Green A

E-Leen® Green A moisturizes and conditions the skin while providing a mild fragrance. The product’s antimicrobial effects  are not influenced by pH.

Hydra-Leen

Hydra-Leen are shelf-stable herbal distillates, also known as hydrolates. These are aqueous solutions of natural fragrances that are a by-product of essential oil manufacture and that feature a fragrance profile similar to their essential oil counterparts. However, due to their higher level of dilution, hydrolates are a safe and gentle option for skin care.

Minasolve’s vision

Minasolve’s major long-term aim is to be a driver of innovation in the cosmetics sector and free customers from having to rely on non-renewable materials. The French company envisions a future in which body care products contain only sustainable ingredients of natural origin, and it is well on its way to making this vision a reality.
