ISCC Plus: promoting sustainability in the polyurethane industry
What is ISCC Plus?
With a globally recognized International Sustainability & Carbon Certification (ISCC) Plus certificate, even companies in non-regulated markets can prove that they use sustainable raw materials like biomass and/or recyclates to produce food and animal feed, or support other technical, chemical and bioenergy applications. Having an ISCC Plus certificate guarantees compliance with regulations on traceability and greenhouse gas emissions along the entire value chain.
Certified sustainability: ISCC PLUS for Nordmann
Nordmann recognizes sustainability as an important field of action – one that it has integrated it into its corporate strategy, adopting a holistic approach toward sustainable management.
Strictly speaking, Nordmann is not yet subject to the German Supply Chain Act as a result of its size. Nonetheless, the multinational distributor has elected to undergo the ISCC PLUS audit for mass balance certification in pursuit of its sustainability aims.
Nordmann Germany received ISCC Plus certification for distributors in January 2022, allowing Nordmann to sell goods with the ISCC Plus Mass Balance logo.
Nordmann’s ISCC PLUS certification was extended in December of 2022 to include the company’s warehousing facilities in Neuss. This means it is now classed as “Trader with storage” and that the entire warehouse chain is certified with regard to mass balance. Since then, several of Nordmann’s suppliers have also begun the certification process.

Sustainability in the polyurethane industry
Nordmann’s portfolio features many certified product groups, particularly for polyurethane.
The following table provides an overview:
Supplier | Brand | Product group | Text |
Borsodchem | Ongronat | Isocyanates | BorsodChem offers a great selection of aromatic Ongronat® isocyanate products for PU applications that ensure excellent material properties and other benefits. |
Shell Chemicals | CARADOLTM | Polyether polyols | Polyether polyols are key components for producing polyurethanes, e.g. foams for furniture, bedding, car seats and insulation applications, in addition to systems for coatings, adhesives, sealants and elastomers (CASE). |
Ingevity | Capa® Mono | Caprolactones | Capa® monomer is a cyclic ester used in the production of polymer resins. It is commonly used to formulate UV-curable monomers and oligomers, as well as to modify other polymers in order to enhance properties such as flexibility and viscosity. |
Ingevity* | Capa® polyols | Caprolactone polyols | Capa® polyols encompass a wide range of products used primarily in the growing polyurethane (PU) market for coatings, adhesives, sealants and elastomers (CASE) applications. Caprolactone polyols support exceptional performance and durability in finished products. Whether customers need to reduce volatile organic compounds, improve abrasion and impact resistance for coatings formulations or enhance weatherability, compression and dynamic performance in PU elastomers, Capa® polyols reliably add value to formulations that differentiate products from the competition. |
Perstorp | VoxtarTM | Pro-Environment polyols | The world's first regenerative penta, on the market since 2010. VoxtarTM consists of 40-100% renewable carbon and is used in alkyd resins, liquid polyesters, powder polyesters, radiation curing, aircraft turbine oils, transformer oils and cooling lubricants. |
Perstorp | NeetureTM | Pro-Environment polyols | Offers advantages such as high UV, hydrolytic and chemical resistance combined with a good balance between resistance and hardness. The partially regenerative NPG is offered in renewable grades from 20-40%. NeetureTM is used in alkyd resins, powder polyesters, radiation cures, aviation turbine oils, transformer oils and cooling lubricants. |
Perstorp | EvyronTM | Pro-Environment polyols | The partially regenerative TMP is available in renewable grades of 20% and 50%. EvyronTM is used in alkyd resins, liquid polyesters, powder polyesters, radiation curing, aircraft turbine oils, transformer oils and cooling lubricants and also serves as a crosslinker in PU elastomers. |
Aether Industries* | Converge® | CO2 polyols | With the unique CO2-based polypropylene carbonate polyos of the Converge® series, Aether Industries offers a way to boost the performance of conventional polyether- or polyesterpolyol-based CASE formulations in terms of their mechanical and hydrolysis properties. |
Elachem | Elapol | Polyester polyols | Saturated polyester made of acids and glycols are widely used in the PU industry and deliver excellent properties. Key applications include polyols, casting elastomers, TPU, PU coatings and PU adhesives. |
