Sustainability with Nordmann partner Mingtai

For decades, Nordmann partner Mingtai has been one of the leading manufacturers of pharmaceutical excipients that include Comprecel® Microcrystalline cellulose and other cellulose products. In addition to its production activities, the company maintains a focus on responsible environmental management and sustainable development. Mingtai in fact adopted the ISO 14001 environmental management system several years ago in an effort to fulfill its social responsibility and help protect the planet.

Headquartered in Taiwan, the company is committed to safeguarding the habitats of living creatures and preserving the natural ecology around its production facilities – which is why it has been taking environmental protection measures for such a long time already. From sewage and waste management to preventing air and noise pollution, all of the measures that Mingtai follows comply with the requirements of national environmental regulations.

Greening its factory premises and the surrounding area is also an important company focus. Green spaces cover around 30% of Mingtai’s production site in Hukou, for instance, and the facilities there offer several examples of environmentally friendly construction. Multi-layered glass façades covered with screen-printed film provide thermal insulation against solar radiation, for example, and energy-efficient equipment is utilized in its wastewater treatment plant. In addition, the Hukou site uses reverse osmosis (RO) wastewater from this same treatment plant to water its spacious green areas.

Mingtai also efficiently utilizes power – primarily electricity and liquefied natural gas (LNG) – and consistently implements measures to save energy and reduce carbon emissions. Adhering to ISO 14001 regulations and complying with operational regulations on air pollution control also help Mingtai lower its greenhouse gas emissions.

The company further supports environmental protection when it comes to packaging materials and to raising awareness of resource conservation. For example, it utilizes recyclable raw materials for pallets and packaging strips that can be reused by customers.

Nordmann distributes Mingtai’s raw materials for pharmaceuticals and food in Austria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Germany, Ireland, Macedonia, the Nordic countries, Poland, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia and Switzerland.

Nordmann’s portfolio features the following Mingtai products:

  • Comprecel® Microcrystalline Cellulose
  • Comprecel® SMCC Silicified Microcrystalline Cellulose
  • Disolcel® CCS Croscarmellose Sodium
  • Neocel® Microcrystalline Cellulose and Carboxymethylcellulose Sodium

Water-soluble grape seed extract

Nordmann partner Layn is now supplying a new water-soluble grape seed extract. Manufactured in Italy, the product is rich in oligomeric proanthocyanidins (OPC) and features a minimal amount of gallic acid and monomers. Because the extraction process uses water rather than solvents, the finished extract is unmatched in terms of its benefits and can be used to support a diverse range of applications from beverages to functional foods and supplements – including powders, sachets and stick packs. Nordmann is distributing the newly launched ingredient in Germany and Switzerland.
