On Fire for Flame Retardants: What are possible substitutes for melamine?
Melamine is a commonly used substance in flame retardants. However, it was classified as a substance of very high concern in 2023 and is now on the list of SVHC (Substances of Very High Concerns). From March 25 to 27, 2025, the international chemical distributor Nordmann presented itself together with its partners Ergon International, Honeywell, Olin® and SNCZ at the European Coatings Show (ECS) in Nuremberg. This trade fair is the international platform for paints, coatings, sealants, construction chemicals and adhesives.
